Hello Folks,
Here is a two part update.
The first is my concerns about Highway 12 and what the effects of not having a dune to protect the Southside of the New Bridge could mean for this Fall and Winter. The second is a general Market update.
If you have any questions or concerns please call or write.

Hi Folks,
This maybe my last photo update of the New Bridge and would-be Inlet. You will notice that nature is closing the inlet off from the ocean side.
I hope you enjoy:

HI Folks this just in from the NCDOT:
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) has announced that N.C. Highway 12 will reopen no later than Tuesday, October 11.
NCDOT has been working since Hurricane Irene to restore the road following damage that compromised portions of Highway 12 north of Rodanthe. The project’s Resident Engineer, Pablo Hernandez, has stated, “Our hope is to open before then, but right now we are confident work will be complete on or before the 11th.” He added, “We will open the road earlier if we can.”
Once Highway 12 is reopened by NCDOT, there will be no travel restrictions for any portion of Hatteras Island, including Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, Buxton, Frisco, and Hatteras Village. With the reopening of Highway 12, residents and visitors will be permitted entry to the previously restricted villages of Rodanthe, Waves, and Salvo.

Hello Folks,
We all need for the visiting public to have access back to HI. However, the current infrastructure will not support this activity and we are effectively crippling our neighbors on Ocracoke.
I have spoke to Allen ( Local County Commissioner) directly about this decision and even though I disagree with the decision to open the Island back up to Visitors, I understand why they did it. They want to keep folks on the Island employed as long as possible.
However, we are now seeing the effects of this decision and that is the Ferry system cannot handle the flow of traffic and Ocracoke is unable to get their visitors on their Island. As of last night the Stumpy Point Ferry was unable to run do to weather so, the much needed supplies are not able to get here.
What we need is a road and this is where our attention should be directed. In my opinion, we do not need a temporary bridge. We should have filled the hole and paved over it just like we have had to do in the past and this would allow the visitors to return....
